Living by the sea

Yesterday we had a day out as a family .

Sun was shining , so we decided to go for a walk by the beach.

I used to leave in London but when my son was born we decided to move to Essex and live by the sea .
This was the best decision we ever made.
Life in central London is crazy and  in my opinion is not the best place to raise  a family.
I have to be honest and say I have fallen in love with Leigh on Sea in Essex .
I was born in an island ( Madeira ) so all my life I had sun,sea and fresh air so when I moved to the UK it was a struggle with the dark and cold weather .

I couldn’t have chosen a better place to live, I love that the kids can do their own thing at the beach and Tomás was very happy to dig the sand ,wash shells and find a baby crab .

Three health benefits of being beside the sea .

* Sea water for well -being.

Research shows that the sound of waves alters wave patterns in the brain lulling you into a deeply relaxed state
Relaxing in this way can help rejuvenate the mind and body .

* Fresh air for sleep .

If you’ve ever wondered why we always sleep more soundly after spending the day on the beach ,it’s because of the sea air .
Sea air is charged with healthy negative ions that accelerate our ability to absorb oxygen .Negative ions also balance levels of serotonin ,a body chemical linked with mood and stress . Which is why after a holiday you feel more alert ,relaxed and energised .

* Sun for feeling good and skin conditions.

When we’re lying on the beach ,the heat of the sun affects our endocrine system – the part of our body with secretes endorphins – the natural chemicals in our body designed to make us feel relaxed and less stressed.

” To me ,the sea is like a person – like a child that I’ve known a long time . It sounds crazy ,I know ,but when I swim in the sea I talk to it . I never feel alone when I’m out there “

  1. Lovely! Looks like someone has some new shoes! I love the seaside and totally agree with your points about the benefits. We are so lucky in the UK, never too far from the sea.
